Plakias Area

This house lies near Plakias and is a good destination for travellers that enjoy Crete in the winter, but want to see more than just one part of it. The family offers nice clean rooms with heating.

Downstairs is probably the best tavern from the South of Crete where the lady in the kitchen prepares food with only the fresh products from their own farm. Prices are modest and the atmosphere in the winter with the locals is great. Distance to Rethymno is 40 Km and to the small bathing village Plakias is 6 Km.

The area around the house is well known for special bird species, like the grey vulture.. In the spring time from February the landscape on the south coast offers the best scenery for walking trips and our walking team will offer some with guidance. You can visit an Olive Oil press installation and a cheese factory. One of the few Pine Tree forest areas on Crete is on walking distance from Iliomanolis

Bus connections in the winter follow the school system, which means that a rental car here would come out handy.

Other Taverns, Pharmacy, Supermarkets and a doctor can be found in Plakias. From here also local busses but again only morning and afternoon fares.
